Marketing Education 1 focuses on the foundations of marketing, selling, and economic foundations. Employability skills, interpersonal skills, and life skills are also emphasized. Career opportunities in marketing are explored.
05075 ACP-CTE Marketing 2 ***
Marketing Education 2 emphasizes marketing functions and strategies; the nature of selling and selling process, from approaching the customer to follow-up techniques; and business ethics and government regulations. This course also covers career and employability skills necessary to be successful in a marketing career.
***These courses are on the 5.0 ("X" or Advanced) grading scale due to the articulation agreement with the Colorado Community Colleges System.
04320 and 04321 Algebraic Principles of Marketing ***
This course is based on the Denver Public Schools Mathematics Content Standards and emphasizes math concepts and ideas embedded in the CTE curriculum. The students learn math application skills necessary in the business world as they work on small and large group projects. Students will demonstrate mathematical achievement on traditional and non-traditional assessment tasks. All lessons incorporate algebraic thinking, communication skills and the use of appropriate technology used in the business world (graphing calculators, computers, Internet). This course enables the student to demonstrate the use of Algebraic principles, as they would be used in day-today marketing functions.
***Students taking Algebraic Principles will receive 4th year Math credit or elective credit, depending on their graduation needs. This class will meet DPS graduation requirements for a 4th year math course as specified in the "New" DPS graduation requirements for the class of 2010 and subsequent classes.
05082 CTE School Store – (3rd year Marketing Course)
While enrolled in this course the student will learn the skills necessary to work in an entry level position in a retail business. The hands-on experience in the store will be supplemented by textbooks and worksheet activities. The school store is largely self-paced. However, the student must develop his/her own discipline and schedule time properly to complete the requirements within the timeframe.
